Welcome To Varsity Trades
We’re a campus-based e-commerce platform built by students, for students, to showcase the amazing products of student entrepreneurs. Our mission is to give you a platform to share your work with the entire student body, not just friends or followers on social media.
Creating a Community of Student Entrepreneurs
At Varsity Trades, we believe in trust, value, and accessibility. Our goal is to provide a space where students can easily buy and sell, building meaningful connections in the process. We're growing fast, and we’re excited about the social impact we can make by boosting student sales and connecting students across campuses.
Built Around Student Hustle
Varsity Trades was created to help student businesses get seen, grow, and reach more people here on campus.
Helping Student Businesses Get Seen
A lot of student entrepreneurs have great products but limited reach. We want to change that by giving student vendors a platform where more people can discover what they do.
A Marketplace Made for Students
Finding student businesses shouldn’t be difficult. Varsity Trades brings products and services from students into one place.
Growing Something Bigger Together
At Varsity Trades, we’re building a community around student entrepreneurship and ambition, starting from UG and growing beyond campus over time!
FAQs:
Varsity Trades is an online marketplace designed by students, for students, to empower student entrepreneurs by providing them a platform to showcase and sell their products. It connects buyers and sellers within the campus, helping to build a community where students can support one another by discovering unique, student-made products.
Varsity Trades allows students to browse various products offered by their peers. When you find a product you’re interested in, instead of traditional “Add to Cart” or “Checkout” options, you’ll click on the “Order on WhatsApp” button. This will redirect you to the vendor’s WhatsApp, where you can communicate directly with the seller to discuss product details, negotiate prices, arrange payments, and set up delivery options.
Any university student can become a vendor for varsity trades. Whether you have a side hustle, craft unique items, or offer a product that can benefit fellow students, you are welcome to join the platform. Sellers must register, create a product listing, and ensure their products meet safety and ethical standards.
Varsity Trades accepts a wide range of products created or sourced by students. This includes clothing, crafts, art, accessories, food items, skincare products, and more, as long as they comply with safety guidelines and are legally permitted for sale. Vendors should ensure that the products are well-described, safe for consumer use, and approved under university or platform guidelines.
Communication is made simple and direct through the “Order on WhatsApp” button. Once a customer clicks this button on your product page, they will be taken directly to a WhatsApp chat with you. From there, you can answer questions, provide details, and finalize the sale with the buyer. Clear and professional communication is encouraged to create a positive experience for both parties.
Each product must have its own dedicated listing to maintain an organized and user-friendly browsing experience. However, if your product has variations (e.g., different sizes or colors of the same item), you can include these options on a single product page. If you’re selling completely different products, they must be listed separately, especially as you grow your catalog on the platform.
Varsity Trades does not process payments directly through the platform. Once you connect with a buyer via WhatsApp, you and the buyer will discuss payment details, such as preferred payment methods (e.g., mobile money, bank transfer, cash on delivery, etc.) and finalize the terms independently. The platform simply facilitates the connection; the rest is up to the buyer and seller to arrange. Be sure to clearly communicate payment expectations and confirm them before proceeding with the sale.
